I’m a lucky lady to have such a strong example of love and marriage in my life. I know not everyone can say the same. My nana and papa celebrate 59 years of marriage and love today. February 5, 1960, Nana and Pa (Roger & Maxine) were married in the living room of Maxine’s parent’s home surrounded by a small gathering of family and friends. At the young age of 18, they knew that all they wanted was to be together. Anyone can see, while around them, that they are more in love now than ever. I can only hope that Marc and my marriage is just as strong when we are celebrating so many years together.
I see a lot of older married couples who seem like they are just existing with each other, with no spark left. But not my grandparents! Nana and Pa are always making each other laugh. They still hold hands whenever they’re walking or sitting next to each other. Pa gives nana foot rubs almost daily. Nana always tells me how never wants to spend a moment away from Pa because a part of her is missing when he is away. Every time I’m with them I see them give at least a couple hugs and kisses. When one can’t sleep at night, the other always gets up with them and they usually have a cup of coffee even if it’s 3am.
The love they share is like nothing I’ve ever seen before. I knew that I wanted to find someone that treated me like Pa treated Nana and I did! I want to be this in love when I’m 78 years old and I hope Nana, Pa, Marc and I can be an example for our children to find the same type of love as well.
Happy anniversary Nana and Pa! We love you so much! Thanks for being such a great example for your kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.
