A Dream Come True: Best Friends & Baby Bumps
Ever since I started thinking about having a family of my own back in high school, I always wanted to be pregnant at the same time as my friend. I thought it would be so fun to share the journey together and have our kids grow up being the same age.
When we found out we were pregnant in January, I was so excited! Especially since I knew a few friends that were pregnant – but they were all in NC and it just wasn’t the same with me being in NH. I remember the night Marc and I told my best friend Lauren and her husband Chris that we were expecting. They had come over for dinner to see our new home. When I shared our secret, Lauren started crying and then told her husband that they had to have a baby too so our kids could grow up together like we did (we’ve been best friends since 2nd grade).
He said no. I was bummed thinking that our little guy wouldn’t have anyone his age to hang out with but that all changed in April. Early April, Lauren & I went out for brunch and over brunch Lauren told me that “Baby Racine will have a playmate in November”. I screamed and started crying because I was extremely excited that our dreams came true!! Lauren and I are exactly 10 weeks apart. It’s been fun to have someone going through the same thing as me to compare doctor’s appointments, how we are feeling, and more! I’m not going to lie, I was hoping Baby W would be a boy but now excited that maybe someday there could be a wedding and Baby W will become a Racine! Wouldn’t it be awesome to have your in laws already be best friends?! Talk about making life a lot easier!
& of course being a photographer, I HAD to document this amazing time in our lives so we did a bestie bump photo shoot! (Thanks to fellow photographer friend KLB Images for the session.) It was fun to go back to Lauren’s family cottage at the lake to take these pictures since we spent summers there and took our prom pictures there back in high school. It’ll forever hold many memories for us. Next summer we will be able to bring our babies there. I cannot wait to meet these little babes and have many play dates!
