Wedding Day First Look

One of the many things to consider while wedding planning is if you should have a first look.

What is a first look you ask? A first look is when the couple has an intimate moment, just the two of them, before the ceremony. Some couples would rather wait to see each other at the alter during the ceremony. That’s totally okay but I want to share how a first look could really make your day that much better!

In September 2019, Jennifer and Tyler got married at a family farm in Goffstown. Their wedding is one of my favorites because it was so calm (and gorgeous!). The day was planned perfectly so they could enjoy their wedding and guests, without the stress.

First, Jennifer had a first look with her dad, followed by a first look with Tyler. Picture this, Tyler waiting for Jennifer under a tree as Jennifer walks across the field to him. It was special as they got to share a quiet moment before the hustle and bustle of the day started. Then we were able to get all of their family photos done as well as the bridal party. And of course, my favorites – the portraits of just the bride and groom. By the time that the ceremony started, we had 90% of the formal photos done. 

After the ceremony, Jennifer and Tyler went off for a short break to soak in the fact that they were married! Then they joined the cocktail hour and were able to really socialize with their friends and family. They really wanted sunset photos so during dinner, as the sun set, we snuck away to grab those images. I really enjoyed having the day set up this way because it was more enjoyable for the bride and groom .

They were able to really be present for their special day. 

I know it’s tradition to wait until the ceremony to see each other and guests want to see the groom’s reaction as the bride walks down the aisle, but I’d highly consider a first look! It will make your day go more smoothly and be more enjoyable for you. 

Personally, I wish I did a first look at our wedding but we didn’t have enough time. Having our wedding in the morning, we couldn’t fit a first look into the day. But then we were away for 1.5 hours doing portraits when we could’ve been enjoying that time with our guests who came to celebrate us! 

No matter what you decide for your special day, it’ll be perfect and I can’t wait to celebrate with you!
