Ladies, trust me, as a past bride I know what you are going through. There is so much going through your head, lots to do on the “to do” list, and you may be feeling overwhelmed. I’ve been there. Let me give you some advice to make wedding planning a little easier.
First and foremost, look for someone who has images that you love! I highly suggest you meet with your prospects in person or on a video call to get to know their personality before hiring them as well to see if you are a good fit together. I also suggest making sure you do an engagement session with them so you can get comfortable in front of the camera before your wedding day and the photographer can learn more about you as a couple. Also remember, the majority of the time you get what you pay for. There is a lot that goes into beautiful wedding photography and the whole experience (education, equipment, being insured, lots of editing time, travel time, consultation times, etc).
Things to Look for in a Photographer:
The most important thing that I stress to my clients is that I back up my images 3 times before I even start editing. I never clear my SD cards until you have received and loved the images. I also back the images up on my external hard drive and on the hard drive on my laptop. I have heard too many horror stories of photographers losing the images because of technical difficulties and the couple being “out of luck”. I go the extra mile to make sure that will NEVER happen.
And remember – every aspect of the wedding is important but when the cake has been eaten, the dance floor has cleared, and the flowers have wilted, the two things you have left to remember your wonderful day are photos and a video (if you get a videographer as well). Every part is important and has a part in the special moment but photography is seriously an investment worth making for a lifetime of memories.
Best wishes with your wedding planning!
xoxo
